I have had my lash extensions for 4 weeks now and I’m still loving them! I had the full set put on 4 weeks ago and had my first fill today. I think they look really pretty and slightly dramatic, but still natural. And they actually held up really well for going four weeks between fills. I had been debating on doing lash extensions for some time because I had heard they can be damaging to your natural lashes. After lots of research and reading thread after thread of people asking this question, I found it really depends on the lashes and glue used, in addition to the experience of the person doing the extensions.
I have been using The Group as my OBGYN since I found out I was pregnant with Blaire. I also did my infertility appointments there and they saw me throughout my pregnancy with Ben. So I am very familiar with them and was excited when they announced they were opening Revive at the Group in September of 2017. When I saw our family photographer, Ashley Hempel, had joined their team as an Esthetician, I was so happy for her! I liked their Facebook page and saw a post a few weeks later that she was doing eyelash extensions there.
Revive uses Xtreme Lashes® and she has been for 11 years! Xtreme Lashes was founded in 2005. They are seen as the world’s most trusted name in semi-permanent eyelash extensions. As the first in their industry, they have really set the standards in eyelash extensions. For anyone who wants to know they aren’t damaging their natural lashes with this process, it’s so important to know your esthetician is using a trusted name.
The lash extensions themselves are very natural-looking. They were developed to mimic your natural lashes with a tapered tip with a thicker base to resemble the look and feel of a natural lash. There are actually over 600 individual styles of Xtreme Lashes eyelash extensions! Isn’t that crazy?! It allows your stylist to give you a completely unique and tailored look. At my first appointment, Ashley started out by asking if I had any examples of how I wanted mine to look. We talked through my ideal length and then she got started.

While their website states it can take up to 3 hours for your initial “full set” to be done, Ashley had mine done in just under one hour, with sacrificing any attention to detail! My fill only took about 40 minutes, maybe closer to 30. And I love those kid-free minutes alone in such a relaxing environment. (Please note, even though you can take your child to OB appointments at The Group, in Iowa, children are legally not allowed in the esthetician rooms for their own safety.)
I am still loving mine and my next appointment for a fill is in 3 weeks. I had a facial while we were in the Dominican Republic and she kept putting things over my eyes, even though I was trying to explain to keep liquids and oils off of my lashes. (She’s lucky it was so relaxing that I didn’t mind too much! Lol!) They definitely held up better without the additional wear from the facial.
I love that they have simplified my beauty routine. The top photo, I’m only wearing lipgloss, foundation, and some eyebrow powder. It took me less than 5 minutes. No more eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow and curling my eyelashes.
I love my Xtreme Lash Extensions SO much.
Have you had lash extensions? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the Comments. xo
