Narrowing down the items worthy of a spot on your baby registry can be overwhelming. Not only are there endless options, but you don’t know what YOUR baby will like. When I was pregnant for the first time, I only had three things I knew I wanted to register for: a lawn drying rack, a humidifier, and a Boppy® Nursing Pillow. To me, these were three things I had seen in the store and fell in love with. I don’t know why, I just did. I knew I needed them. Six years and three kids later, these three items are still staples in our home.
Nursing Pillow vs. Newborn Lounger
Do I need both? What’s the difference? Do I need the nursing pillow even if I’m not planning to breastfeed?
Yes. Quite a few. And yes.
First up, what’s the different between these two?
The Boppy Nursing Pillow obviously has the “C” shape so it can fit around your midsection. It’s helpful for nursing a baby or feeding them a bottle. It provides relief for your arms and your back by lifting your baby up into a more comfortable position, up closer to your body. In addition to supporting the baby while feeding, it can be used for propping, tummy time, and supported sitting. It’s recommended for babies ages 0-12 months. It is not designed for sleeping.

The Boppy Newborn Lounger can be used for babies up to 16 pounds or until they can roll over, whichever comes first. It makes the baby feel secure by cradling their bottom. It is also not designed for sleeping. We didn’t have this with Blaire but did with both Ben and Sloane. They both loved it! They would happily lay in it while I folded laundry, played with their siblings or made dinner. We used our Nursing Pillow with all three kids, while the Newborn Lounger was something we purchased with our second. Both Boppy products seem brand new, probably thanks to the fact that the pillows and the covers are all machine-washable. I primarily use the Nursing Pillow for feeding and then we also use it when siblings want to hold the baby for the first month or so. As the baby’s neck starts to get stronger, we use it for tummy time and to help support them when they first start to sit on their own.

ComfyChic® Baby Carrier
I think baby carriers, wraps, and slings are the one category I get the most questions about. They can be intimidating and there are tons of options, so it can get overwhelming. With any carrier I use, I find it takes a few tries to get really comfortable with it. I love that Boppy has easy videos that show how to do each of the positions for each of their carriers.
With the ComfyChic® Baby Carrier, you can carry the baby 4 different ways: newborn face-in, front face-in, front face-out (after the baby is 6 months old), and side-hip carrying when the baby is between 8-35lbs. This is the first carrier we have that allows Sloane to face outward and she LOVES it! I typically have her facing out if we are just hanging out around the house. If we are going for a walk I face her in, so she can put her head on my chest, because she always falls asleep.
This ComfyChic® Baby Carrier has a little pouch along the waistband which makes it easy to put your phone, keys, wallet, etc in so you don’t have to carry an extra bag along on your walk. It also folds up into a little pouch that makes it easy to keep in the car or diaper bag without taking up a ton of extra space. It’s a nice, stretchy, lightweight, and breathable fabric that makes it perfect for warmer weather. It’s also machine-washable.
4&More Multi-Use Cover
The Boppy 4 & More Multi-Use Cover is made of the same soft, lightweight yoga-inspired fabric as the ComfyChic® carrier and is perfect to use over it. One side of the cover is cooling mesh and the other side is made for privacy, perfect for nursing! The cooling mesh makes it easy to peek at the baby while they’re nursing or in their car seat and allows air to flow through to keep the baby cool. It has the Integrated Stash n’ Go Pouch (just like the ComfyChic® Baby Carrier) to make it easy to fold up and store when on the go. Bonus: it’s machine washable!
I am so happy to have had the chance to partner with Boppy the past few months. We’ve been able to share some of our tried and true favorites and we’ve been able to try some new things, too. We have quite a few other Boppy products in addition to the ones I’ve shared here… And six years, countless times in the washing machine later, they’re still going strong.
