Our favorite way to break up the gifts we buy for our kids is into four categories – Want, Need, Wear and Read. They get one gift from each category. Then the rest of the items on their lists go onto the gift registries (yes, registries – I love to set up holiday registries for each of our children at Target) we create for them online. It helps to eliminate the random junk we end that ends up in the garbage after a few weeks. This is series of posts rounding up the best gifts for children by age. This post is our “Want, Need, Wear, Read: Gift Guide for Baby Boys” guide.
Four is a great number! We have been doing this for the past three or four years, and don’t worry, when you set four gifts in front of your child, they’ll still be excited, they just won’t be overwhelmed. They’ll remember each gift and will be able to thoughtfully process each as they open them. More than four gifts and they’re just ripping open paper until they’ve opened everything in front of them.

There you have it! Some holiday gift ideas for your baby boy. Have you done “Want, Need, Wear, Read” with your kids before? Are you going to try it this year? It really has been a great way for our family to stay intentional with our holiday season. I typically can buy all 4 of our children’s gifts for $100 (or less)! It’s such a fun challenge.
Don’t forget the stocking stuffers.
