I can’t believe Blaire’s first birthday party has come and gone! We decided to have two separate birthday parties… on the same day. We had a family/few of our very close out-of-town friends birthday party in the afternoon, and then we had a pizza and cupcake party that same night with in-town friends and their kids. The majority of my family and friends live out of town, about an hour away, with the majority of Jason’s living here in town. Blaire had so much fun playing with all of the kids at both parties. She LOVES that she can chase after them now. She also received wayyy too many new toys, which should keep her busy forever.
We went with the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star theme and I LOVE the way it turned out. It was definitely a lot of crafting, but it was so worth it. For our 1PM birthday party we did subs from Wal-Mart which are usually our go-to. They’re reasonably priced and come with tons of sides (lettuce, tomato, onions, mustard, mayo) plus, they’re delicious, and then PB&J stars for some of the kids. We also had a veggie tray, cheese squares and I made some Italian pasta salad. My grandma brought her infamous Snickers Sald which is always a hit! We also used this recipe for Cherry Limeade and it’s always a hit! We ordered the cupcakes and I made the cake and Blaire’s smash cake. I was so proud of myself because I think they both turned out great! For dinner we just ordered some pizza and finished up with some cupcakes.
I love that last decoration! It was so fun to have up a picture of Blaire from each month to see how she has changed. Having both birthday parties on the same day really worked out great! We only had to decorate once, do one small cleanup between the parties, with just one big cleanup at the end of the night. (And just one week of craziness trying to get everything together.) Now we just have to get the Thank Yous out, and then we can relax on Blaire’s actual birthday this Wednesday. We’re trying to think of something fun to take her to do when we get off of work that night. Too bad there’s not much to do when it’s 0° outside. (Thumbs down.) How did you celebrate your little one’s first birthday? Here’s hoping you had a great weekend! How is tomorrow Monday already? PS: I decided to change up my hair last week, and got an ombré… and I LOVE it! xo
