my favorite target summer dresses and maternity dresses
I found myself across the street from Target this morning. With an hour to kill and only one kiddo, I decided to go to Target to try on summer dresses because my current summer wardrobe is sparse. Usually Ben and Blaire are fighting over my phone in the fitting room, but this trip, Ben was content just hanging out. So I could actually snap pictures of everything – in all of it’s all red everything and terrible lighting glory.
For reference, I’m 5’2″. I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and I have a GIANT chest. I usually wear a small in dresses because I’m so short. The only issue is if there’s no stretch in the bust (a zipper or buttons, etc.) then I size up to whatever fits there.

Women’s Striped Sleeveless Round Neck Knit Tank Midi Dress – Wild Fable™ Olive
This dress was my favorite! It’s comfy and the perfect weight – not too sheer but not heavy. The length was great and the little slits on the side will make it easier to chase my kids around. I got my regular size, a size small.

Women’s Sleeveless Button-Front Short Dress – Universal Thread™
I honestly didn’t have high hopes for this dress because of the buttons – they just never work with my large bust. But I was so surprised! There was no gaps or pulling, and I was even able to wear my regular size, a size small.

Women’s Casual Fit Sleeveless Crewneck Rib Knit Shift Dress – A New Day™
I wasn’t sure I would like this dress because of the ribbing. But it was actually super comfortable and not too thick. I sized up to a medium.

Maternity Floral Print Sleeveless V-Neck Button Front Maxi Dress – Isabel Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel™ Red
I felt like I was swimming in this dress. It was lightweight and comfortable though. Here I’m wearing a small. I think if I sized down to an XS then I’d be sold.

Women’s Striped V-Neck Strappy Lace-Up Top Midi Dress – Xhilaration™ Golden Yellow
I didn’t find this to be flattering, but it was light-weight and the straps tie in the back so they’re adjustable. There are some details at the top that would be cuter if you have a smaller chest, but for me they just made it a bit too revealing. I’m wearing a small.

Women’s V-Neck Strappy Button Front Midi Dress – Xhilaration™ Olive
Another dress I didn’t think I’d like because of the buttons. Surprisingly, they didn’t pull, even over my giant bump! The material definitely wrinkles easily, so I’m not sure it’d be good for my sweaty, pregnant self in the summer. I sized up to a medium.

Women’s Strappy V-Neck Printed Babydoll Dress – Wild Fable™ (Muted Blue)
This is a really comfortable, lightweight dress. The sides hang low though and there is a back detail that will show your bralette or bandeau, so I’m not sure it’s a winner for me. I sized up to a medium and felt like it was on the verge of being too short.

Women’s Strappy V-Neck Printed Babydoll Dress – Wild Fable™ (Fresh Melon)
This is a really comfortable, lightweight dress. The sides hang low though and there is a back detail that will show your bralette or bandeau, so I’m not sure it’s a winner for me. I sized up to two sizes to a large. It definitely was longer than the medium (shown above in blue).

Women’s Striped Short Sleeve Round Neck T-Shirt Dress – Wild Fable™ Orange/White
I actually bought this dress and returned it a few weeks ago. I originally bought a Large and it was SO wide. Here I’m wearing a small so it’s a bit short. I think a medium would fit better, but they didn’t have one in-store to try. It’s comfortable but the material is a bit thick.

Maternity Short Sleeve Shirred T-Shirt Dress – Isabel Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel™
Oh gosh, talk about a giant baby bump. Usually the maternity dresses at Target are SO long on me, so I thought I would try an XS. You can see how that worked out for me! Haha! Ben did tell me I was cute though. I love this and will definitely be getting it in a small.
There were so many I wanted to buy, I’m really kicking myself for not trying on anything last week when dresses were buy one get one half off. EYE ROLL. I planned on going in without the kids and just completely forgot. After being pregnant with both of other other kids throughout the fall and winter, I only have a few pieces that fit and are comfortable/casual enough to wear everyday. Bonus, only a few of these dresses are maternity so they’ll work post-pregnancy too!
