FINALLY! Blaire is sleeping through the night consistently. And… she’s sleeping in her crib. While I was in New York, Jason moved Blaire into her crib, in her own room. She was still waking up a few times a night, and ending up in our bed around 4AM. Fast forward a few weeks and she was up a few times and ended up in our bed by 1AM every night. She loves to sleep in the craziest ways, so she just wasn’t comfortable inbetween us. She flip-flopped around all night and none of us were getting any sleep.
So… a few weeks ago we finally made the decision to let her cry it out. She had finished her bottle and was sitting up in bed whining/crying. Usually we would go back in and rock with her in her glider until she fell asleep. All in all it only took about 12 minutes of crying, with me going in three different times to soothe her. After the third time I went in, she sat in her crib and cried/mostly fake cried for about 5 minutes. We could see in her monitor that she was still sitting in bed, but had stopped crying. When we went in to check on her, this is how she had fallen asleep.Since that night she has fallen asleep with her sippy cup in bed, and then is able to soothe herself back to sleep throughout the night. We do typically have to get up and give her a binky once throughout the night, usually around 1AM. But last night she did make it until 2AM! It’s amazing to get so much sleep at night. I am definitely used to it already and am praying that she doesn’t relapse!
Every night before bed we put Blaire in her PJs and read her a story. Then we give her some formula and lay her in her crib. We don’t do baths every night because they always seem to add an extra 30 minutes to bedtime. We just recently started saying a prayer when she gets all cozy in her crib. We had to do some searching to find a good one… the one I said growing up included the line “if I should die before I wake” and we wanted something a little more uplifting for Blaire’s prayer. So we stumbled across a different version of the prayer I said.
Now I Lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
May God guard me through the night
And wake me with the morning light.
Amen.
I have been working on a new printable for her room with the words to the prayer. It’s going to look so cute above her crib! I can’t wait to get it printed and hung up. How old was your little one when they started sleeping through the night? On second thought, maybe don’t tell me… I will be jealous! Only two days left to get ready for Blaire’s birthday party. There’s so much to do! xo

Aww, she looks so peaceful! Good job on getting more sleep!!! Isn’t it amazing?! Tanner did not want to co-sleep for too long since we have a queen bed and our little bed-hog liked to sleep horizontally! We moved her to her crib at 6wks old and she was great! We let her cry it out from the beginning and I would still wake up two times a night to soothe and feed her back to sleep (usually took about 5-10mins. She would still wake up in the early morning when Tanner would wake up to go to work (4am) and I’d move her to our bedroom to sleep with me. At four months we were able to establish a routine with her dinner, bath, book/prayers, bottle, binky/sleep and she would sleep through the night – no problem! Until teething became an issue around month seven…we were at it again with two, sometime three wake-ups…and so we brought on SLEEP TRAINING! I asked all my mommy friends for advice and tried two different techniques within a week, then with the help of a close mommy friend, was able to pinpoint our problem (too much sleep during the day) and was quickly resolved! She started sleeping through the night around end of month SEVEN. Her sleep schedule looks something like this – bed by 8/8:30PM to 7:30/8AM (it all depends on when she goes downs, but usually gets almost 12hrs of sleep. Two naps a day (morning and afternoon) usually about 1.5-2.5hrs. She hardly ever fusses fights me when I put her down (ppl are amazed by how quietly and pleasantly she puts herself to sleep), but probably because she’s so use to her binky (wubbanub) and blankie (lovey) already…and no, I’m not planning on taking those away anytime soon. If it works than I’m sticking with it! lol!

So we are going through sleep training this week. It’s soooo heart breaking to hear Audrey cry. Night 1 was terrible – I spent the majority of it crying. I think I cried more than she did. Last night was really good. Today is night 3. She’s also sick today.. so I’m not sure how tonight will go.

Zurry DonevanHere’s hoping you got through it well! Teething is definitely rough… I’ve never been very good at sticking it out once Blaire is really crying and upset… Especially if she isn’t feeling well. I would rather get in some extra cuddles than have her fall asleep sad!

Zurry DonevanZurry – I am hoping your sleep training is going well! Thank you for sharing! :)

Hey Trista! Sorry meant to respond earlier! It is going well. So far she’s had maybe one or two nights of nightmares but either than that she sleeps fairly well! I did choose to dream feed her at 10 and then once more when I get up in the middle of the night.
How did it go for you??
