34 weeks and baby is the size of a pineapple (approx 17.7″ and 4.63lbs). Also the size of a butternut squash or a box of Eggo Waffles. Lol! I am measuring right on, which I did with both Blaire and Ben. They were also similar sizes when they were born. Blaire was born at 49W 1D and was 7lbs 2oz and 18.5″. Ben was born at 38W 3D and was 7lbs 4oz and 20″. Since Ben was born a little early, I just keep hoping this baby will be too. *fingers crossed*
I’m still anemic (technically referred to as Iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy) which I have never had to deal with before. I always have taken gummy prenatal vitamins, and gummy vitamins don’t contain any iron. So I have to switch to a prenatal with 150% of the Iron I need, plus a 325mg Iron tablet once per day. Just the 150% in the prenatal vitamin didn’t give me enough Iron. So I’ve been getting extra blood work for that and hoping I can get my Iron levels up really soon.
How far along: 34 weeks
Total weight gain: 15lbs
Movement: So many HUGE movements all of the time. She gets the hiccups almost every day and our ultrasound a few weeks ago showed she is still head down. Yay! It’s such a relief since Blaire was breech. I still ask my doctor at each appointment to confirm because we didn’t find out Blaire was breech until 36ish weeks. So if this baby turns breech, I’ll be at my chiro every week trying to get her to flip!
Mood: Nervous and emotional. It’s like a million emotions hit me at once when I saw her little face on the ultrasound screen a few weeks ago. It definitely made me realize how close we are to welcoming our last member to our family. And it hit me how many things we have to do before I’ll feel “ready”.
Food cravings: Root beer floats!
Gender: Girl.
Sleep: The worst part is actually falling asleep. My legs are restless at bedtime, my heartburn gets worse and this baby is always moving around like crazy when I finally lay down for the night. But once I’m finally asleep, I sleep great! Napping with Ben has been so nice on days when I’m exhausted… a luxury I didn’t have while working in an office full-time with the other two.
Highlight of the Week: A trip to the chiro with an hour massage and I finished painting the nursery (/guest room)! We have four bedrooms upstairs and one in our basement. We have been using the fourth upstairs as a guest room, so we’re going to keep it as a guest room for now, with the addition of her crib. It may not be a terrible idea for me to just sleep in there with her for the first few weeks… since our kids still end up in our bed most nights.
Miss Anything: Pregnancy is the only time I have heartburn and I get it from anything and everything. Water? Yep. Coffee? Yep. Pizza? Yep. Salad? Yep. I also get out of breath so easily, even just walking Blaire to her school feels too far some days. So I’ll be happy when I can walk around without feeling like a baby is going to pop out!
Symptoms: My legs really are bothering me more than anything else. The veins in my thighs and my restless legs at night when I’m trying to fall asleep. My belly feels uncomfortable occasionally, usually at night, since I’ve been eating all day. It’s hard to get comfortable even to sit on the couch to watch TV.
Looking forward to: Getting things ready for this baby! I had said we wouldn’t even do a nursery this time around. Our master is big enough for the glider and the crib and Ben still has the changing table in his room. So I thought we’d just use our room. Buuuut now I’ve decided I want to have something set up to wrangle all of the stuff. We still need to get a car seat and I need to get a dresser or something to organize everything. So I’m looking forward to checking some of those final things off the list. Then we’ll be ready for her!
