If you follow me on Facebook then you already know we spent some time in the south this weekend! It was so beautiful and we had lots of fun. One of my best friends from college married her college sweetheart and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We had a direct flight from Chicago through Southwest and they were the best flights we’ve had in years! All of the employees were hilarious and made our flight with a toddler so smooth and pleasant! We’ll definitely be looking for more opportunities to fly Southwest in the future.
We flew from Chicago into Charleston, SC and drove to Savannah. The drive was pretty quick (less than 2 hours) and gave Blaire the chance to get a nap in. We stopped for snacks on our drive and it immediately became clear to me that the south just gets me. This is indicated by the ‘tall boy’ Cherry Pepsi shown below! Since I was in the bridal party, I knew I was going to be busy all day Friday and Saturday, so we visited all of the “must go” places on Thursday. We went to Tybee Island to the beach for a few hours to play in the sand and Blaire loved it! We headed back downtown and had dinner at Vinnie Van Go Go’s. It WAS delicious. The slices of pizza are GIANT and amazing. They have lots of tables outside, but always seem to be super busy so we opted to eat inside where there was no wait. The waitress was super sweet, and even gave Blaire an entire side of black olives because she insisted on eating all of them off of my pizza. We ended our night with some yummy Leopold’s ice cream.
Friday morning I had to be up early to head to the Ford Plantation for a day at the spa. I stopped at the Coffee Fox in downtown Savannah on my way for a latte and it was amazing. If you’re a coffee lover, you must try it! The rehearsal dinner that evening was at The Lady and Sons. They served the most delicious pancakes and corn bread as appetizers. Blaire (and myself) were in heaven! The wedding and reception were both at the Ford Plantation and neither could have been more beautiful. Blaire tagged along to the ceremony, but we hired a nanny for the reception. I was a little sooo worried about leaving her with a stranger, but it went perfectly! We ended our time in Savannah with brunch on Sunday morning before heading back to Charleston for our flight.
Since we weren’t landing until after 6PM, we planned to stay overnight in Chicago instead of driving all of the way home. We spend Monday at Brookfield Zoo. The weather was perfect and Blaire loved all of the animals.
Okay… that was a long one. And soooo many pictures. But I’m so happy to share them because we had the best weekend! Spending time with friends you haven’t seen in months (Seriously. Not since January.) and being able to pick up right where you left off is one of my favorite things. It really makes me realize how lucky I am to have such great friends! And is there any better thing to celebrate than two amazing people starting their life together? xo
