Does time fly by even quicker with each child? I thought Ben was an easy baby… then along came Sloane who basically takes care of herself. I wanted to update the items that are our must haves for a newborn baby. There are SO many pieces of baby gear out there and they’re always changing. These types of lists helped me immensely when trying to decide what to buy as a new mom, so I’m happy to share mine in hopes of helping someone else.

must haves for a newborn baby

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

1| Copper Pearl Burp Cloths (set of 3): These are THE BEST burp cloths ever. They’re super absorbant and so soft. I never want to use anything else.

2| Footie PJs: These footie PJs are the. best. They have an inverted zipper, which means the zipper starts at the top and zips downwards. It makes diaper changes easier, since baby stays cozy on the top. They also have built-in mittens to keep baby from scratching him/herself. They come in packs of 3 for $12.99.

3| Solly Baby Wrap c/o Solly Baby: Yay, baby wearing! The Solly Wrap is SO comfortable and easy to use. For the wrap I had with Blaire, you had to purchase it according to your size and I just never felt like it fit right. The Solly wrap is one size fits all and it comes in THE CUTEST prints and colors. I love it! It’s amazing for wearing baby around the house because they’re secured from both sides, so they are snuggled right inside while you do whatever you need to do.

4| Como Tomo Bottles: Since I’m pumping in addition to nursing, I love that these bottles have easily allowed my kids to do both without any issues.

5 | The Ollie Swaddle c/o The Ollie World: We used one of these with Ben and now are using one with Sloane. Both kids sleep/slept SO well in them. The velcro and elastic band make it easy to use and

6 | Wildbird Ring Sling c/o Wildbird: I have two Wildbird ring slings and they are SO good. I love how easy ring slings are to use. They’re my go-to when we’re out and about because I can already have them threaded and can easily put Sloane right inside without having to tie up a wrap before I get in the car or in the parking lot.

7 | Dockatot c/o Dockatot: We used the Dockatot with Ben as an infant and now are using it again with Sloane. It takes up the entire mattress of her bassinet and she sleeps very well in it, just like Ben did.

8 | 4-in-1 Nursing Cover c/o Covered Goods: Even if you’re not nursing, this is a must have because it’s a lightweight carseat cover, too. I use it to cover the infant carseat and then just take it off to use as a nursing cover when we’re in public. They have tons of cute prints. I have used one with Blaire and Ben, too. As baby grows, you can use it as a shopping cart and high chair cover. Covered Goods was actually the first company to come up with the 4-in-1 cover idea, so I’m happy to support the originator of this design!

9| Chicco Lullago Portable Bassinet: This isn’t the fanciest bassinet, but we love it. It’s lightweight, so it’s easy to move around. It was easy to put together and is the perfect height for me to reach Sloane from our bed.

Most days I still can’t believe I’m a mama to three. It’s so much fun… I just need time to slow down a little bit!

We loved those swaddle blankets too and now we buy them for every new parent. My kids are 4 and 6 and they still dig them out.

yes! absolutely to every single one of these items :) i agree with the mittens because i’m SOOO uncomfortable with cutting/filing nails. And baby wearing saved my life when my husband deployed lol two free hands are so much better than one.

We had the non-automatic Rock N Play for our first two kids, but I am definitely getting the automatic one the next time around! I’ve been seeing the Solly Wrap all over Instagram, so I’ll have to keep that in mind too! I’m loving the black and white swaddle! :)
