milky mama lactation brownie review

I’m going to guess this is the thing I’ve had the most questions and messages about EVER. My review of the lactation brownies from Milky Mama. And I think it just shows we can get desperate when it comes to our milk supply because of how much pressure our society forces when it comes to breastfeeding.

Also, a few disclaimers. I bought these brownies. I know they’re not inexpensive so I want you to know I used my own money to order them… although I hope that doesn’t really matter. I hope you know I’d never lie to you. Whether something is gifted to me or I purchase it, I’m giving my true opinion. Also, pumping isn’t an accurate depiction of your supply. Some people react well to a pump, others don’t.

For me, I have supplemented with formula for all of my kids. Sloane has been the least and I’m sure it’s because I’ve been home with her longer than I was with my other two. I have absolutely no bad feelings with it comes to formula other than it’s so pricey!

So, my backstory. Sloane slept A TON the first month of her life and would fall asleep nursing, so I mostly pumped. I tried to be good about pumping every 3-4 hours during the day, so by the time she was 2 weeks old I had over 100 ounces of milk frozen. I was pumping about 35 ounces a day and she was eating around 20-25. We don’t have much extra freezer space and I was getting burnt out from pumping already. So I started pumping less and started using from my supply. My freezer stash was the perfect excuse to not pump or nurse and my milk supply dropped drastically because of it.

Which items did you order?

I ordered both the Emergency Lactation Brownies and the Lactation Brownies. They both are really chocolately and yummy.

How many have you been eating?

I have been eating one of each brownie, an emergency brownie in the morning with my coffee and the lactation brownie in the evening, after dinner.

How long did it take to see results? And what were your results?

I saw results after 3 days. I have not done anything different. I typically nurse her once overnight (a dream feed around 5AM) and then I nurse her first thing when we get up. Between 8-9AM. After I finish nursing her, I pump just to make sure I have emptied both sides. During this pump I was lucky to get about 2 oz total. I would usually bottle this to feed her later in the evening. Then I’d nurse her throughout the day and pump again before bed. That pump would usually get about 4-5oz, which I would bottle and give her the next morning. Now, I’ve been pumping around 14oz in the morning (12oz more than I was pumping). Before bed I’m pumping around 10oz (6oz more than I was). In addition to pumping more milk, I also think the milk I’m pumping seems fattier than it was before.

Did it help even out what you were pumping on each side?

I shared how I have a MAJOR slacker boob on my stories. Ha! And it turns out most people have one that makes less than the other. According to my LC it’s completely normal. I have been pumping more on each side, but it’s relative. For an example, if I was pumping 4 oz before, say 3 oz on one side and 1oz on the slacker, and now I’m pumping 8oz, I would be pumping 2 oz on the slacker side and 6oz on the other.

For the past five days I’ve been eating one emergency brownie in the morning and a lactation brownie at night. I’m glad I’ll be able to get some milk back in my stash! There are 12 brownies in each box. So I’m going to experiment with not eating any and then eating just one of the regular ones per day to see what happens.

Have you tried anything that helped up your milk supply? Share below!

Oh no! I’m so sorry. Maybe try eating two brownies one day and see if that makes any difference? You could also try adding in a drink with electrolytes, like Body Armour or Gatorade?

My milk is completely gone. I purchased the regular brownies. Would they help my milk come back?

You are doing amazing work! Thanks for sharing your wonderful posts. I think the combination of Milky mama lactation brownies and Domperidone had the best effect 😊. Until I started it with the domperidone my baby may well have fed on blood from a stone. We tried the skin-to-skin, the constant feeding, the teas, the massages, but basically my milk never came in in sufficient quantity. Just as I was about to quit, a friend suggested domperidone (So happy 😊 I found “Dombf365” in Google and got Dom). I was able to stop the domperidone after a while and supply held more or less steady.

Hi! I did one per day, unless I really needed a huge jump and then I’d do two in a day and they really made a difference for me.
