Typing 2018 is WEIRD. Where did 2017 go? It doesn’t seem like it was a whole year ago that I was pregnant with Ben and we were soaking in every minute left with Blaire as our only child.
Personally, 2017 was a great year! We welcomed Benjamin. We welcomed the baby girls of three of our best friends (within only two months of Ben being born). Jason’s role at work evolved and changed quite a few times. I enjoyed being home with my kiddos for 12 weeks without working. My college friend, Jackie, who I hadn’t seen since her wedding in 2015 came from NYC to stay with us during my maternity leave. I left my full-time job to work from home with my babies. And we have planned 3 big trips for 2018: Two to visit friends and one with friends to celebrate our five year wedding anniversary. It was also the year of a messy house and the laundry chair that always housed a few piles of clean laundry that was never folded or put away.
Professionally, it was rough and definitely had some downs. I loved what I did and the company I did it for. I didn’t love the drama. But I’m lucky to have left there with some really good friends that I know will be around forever. And I’m honestly lucky the drama gave me the push to leave my “secure” day job to pursue being my own boss. Life is what you make it and I’m determined to help give our children the best, most secure life we can.
So, that’s enough words. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year.
- I really hope to find a better balance of me time. Since becoming a mom, I can admit I put myself on the back burner. I will strive to give myself grace (less mom guilt!) leaving our kids to work out, or for date nights and for our kid-free anniversary trip.
- I want to find a good work from home routine for myself and the kiddos.
- I want to finish organizing our home and get it put on the market, so we can buy our forever home.
- I want to take my health seriously. Drink water. Get active regularly. Cook healthier meals.
Well friends, I hope you had a happy 2017. And I hope 2018 is everything you want it to be, and more. Here’s to 2018. Thank you for following along and for being the best community of mamas I could ask for.
