I can only start this post by saying these past two years have been a whirlwind. It’s true what they say about motherhood… the days are long, but the years are short. It seems like just a few months ago we brought Blaire home from the hospital. We were still in shock someone trusted us to care for and raise a helpless, precious little baby. Fast forward two years and she is the sweetest, funniest, sassiest little thing. We never have a dull moment around here and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Favorite Words: Treat, Snack, Drink (lots of food related ones here!), baby, meow, Brylee, I do, walk, duck, mommy, choo choo, counting to 6 and singing the ABCs (both with help!)
Favorite Things: She still spends most of her time playing with her babies. Lately she really loves changing their diapers and clothes. She’s constantly pushing them around in the strollers or the shopping cart. And also loves to put them in the high chair and crib. This last week, Frozen was on TV so I recorded it. She loves watching it, but mostly loves dancing to the songs. She’s always dancing around, singing. I love her sassiness! She is also really loving church. She loves singing along and loves to put the kneelers up and down by herself, and likes to stand on them so she can easily see the priest. She also loves dressing herself and loves to pick out her own clothes. She is also very interested in what mama is wearing.
Favorite Foods: Pizza, french fries, rice, blueberries, strawberries, carrots & mac and cheese
Biggest Milestone: She is back to putting herself to sleep every night. She still ends up in our bed eventually during the night. But like I’ve said before, that’s fine with this mama! She is also using the potty quite a bit. She is getting really good at telling us before she has to go.
Biggest Challenge: Listening. At times she listens well, other times she just doesn’t care what you want her to do. I am not the most patient, so it’s hard for me to not get annoyed when she runs away from me while we’re in a store or during church. I think it’s also her trying to be more independent. So she’s teaching me patience, I’m teaching her how important it is to stay with mama/daddy while we’re out.
My Favorite Part of This Stage: I love how much she wants to mimic the people she looks up to. Whether it’s trying to wear a scarf like me or trying to stand just like her daddy — She is always watching, observing. I also love how caring and sweet she is. She loves to give kisses and hugs.
Looking Forward To: Since it’s still pretty cold here, we are going to start tumbling and toddler ballet classes to help get out some of that extra energy. I can’t wait for trips to the parks and running around the backyard! Also looking forward to her 2 year well check and her first hair cut!!
These past two years have just flown by. I never knew what true love and joy were until the moment we met you, Blaire. I never dreamed that I could be so proud or in awe of someone. Each day you amaze us with something new. I spend every day being nostalgic about how much my baby has grown, but also with such an excitement for the future that’s still ahead of us. Happy Birthday, Blaire Elizabeth. We love you so, so much. xo
