If you follow me on Insta, you know our baby boy was baptized this past weekend. We’d been trying to coordinate schedules for the past few months. The days that worked with the church didn’t work with family member’s travel plans, so we ended up with the holiday weekend being the only time that worked for everyone.
We have been so overwhelmed since I went back to work, so I didn’t feel up to a big party like we had for Blaire. We wanted the emphasis to be on his baptism and not on “hanging out” at our house afterwards. So we only invited immediate family (plus Ben’s godmother) and we all went out for brunch after. It was small, it was easy and it was perfect.
Like I said, I’ve been so overwhelmed since going back to work. I didn’t start looking for an outfit for Ben until mid-last week. I came across THE CUTEST outfit on Etsy. Then I realized she was based in Canada and I was sure I wouldn’t get the outfit in time, but figured I may as well contact her anyways.
As I wrote the message, I picture Ben just wearing a white onesie to his baptism because I had completely dropped the ball. Andrea (of Mabel Retro) wrote me back minutes later saying she could have it created in time, that I’d just need to choose an expedited shipping option. At that moment it felt like this might actually fall into place and I wouldn’t always look back on it and think of how many months we had to actually plan this, with nothing actually coming together. BUT it all came together. I placed my order Wednesday and the outfit was here Friday. FROM CANADA. And I honestly don’t think he could have looked any more adorable. That little bowtie. The seersucker shorts and suspenders. The Peter Pan collar.

Blaire always loves seeing babies get baptized, so she was especially excited to take part in her brother’s baptism.
It might not have been fancy. It might have been the easy way out for us. But it was perfect. Ben was genuinely surrounded by the people who love him most in the world and we couldn’t be happier to know our baby boy has been blessed. Welcome to the Catholic Church, Benjamin Robert. We cannot wait to see the Lord continue to shine through you.

He’s so precious. Happy blessing day!! I love his outfit. So perfect. I’m all with you on making the day more about the blessing of the baby. No need for an overly elaborate stressful day. I loved it.
