Our food journey with Ben has been a bit different than it was with Blaire. It’s crazy how quickly they can change recommendations for babies. With Blaire, it was recommended to start solids around 4 months old. This time around, only three years later, the AAP recommends waiting until 6 months to start your baby on solids.
Honestly, waiting until 6 months to start solids was a relief to me. Bottle feeding (or breast feeding!) is just so much more convenient and less messy. So it was nice to have a few more months of just feeding my baby before he was sitting up in his high chair demanding more food! haha
Currently, Ben is a great eater. He loves most things and loves to feed himself bite-sized pieces of the food we’re eating. But he does still LOVE eating from a spoon. For breakfast, he loves these yogurt bites, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and Oatmeal Single Grain Cereal from Gerber®. You can start babies on plain oatmeal right at 6 months old. And now, at 11 months old, Ben he loves it when we feed it to him with his favorite fruits! I love to start my day with oatmeal, so I feel ya, buddy.
