Does anyone actually like talking about money? It’s awkward. It’s personal. There are a million ways to spend it. And chances are, the ways you want to spend it won’t match up perfectly with anyone else. Nearly half of Americans in serious relationships (48%) fight about money. Becoming parents adds another layer of complication to your finances. But, I’m here to tell you financial planning doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to be the source of fights. Finding the right financial advisor can remove a layer of stress from your day-to-day, leaving you more time for the things you love. We all want to trust the person helping us decide what to do with our money, right? And we all want to NOT have to worry about our financial long-term in our day-to-day lives.
Jason works Monday through Friday so the weekends are when we spend the most quality time together as a family. We like to make the most of our time! This past weekend, we surprised Blaire with a trip to Disney on Ice. She knew she was going somewhere to see my goddaughter, who she LOVES, but didn’t know where we were going. Right before we left, we had her pick a princess dress to wear, but she still had no idea where we were going. It was just about 25 minute drive from our house, but once we got close to the arena we were stuck in traffic. And Blaire was SO impatient. Haha! She just wanted to know where she was going. We parked, and when she saw Brylee, she was SO excited. I think even if we were just sitting in the parking lot with Bry, Blaire wouldn’t have minded.
As soon as we got into the building, she remembered being there last year. This year, she loves all of the Disney princesses. Last year, she didn’t know all of them, but she really loved Frozen. During my maternity leave this year we rented all of the classic Disney movies, so now she loves them! Her current favorite is Belle, but others who have held the favorite spot in the fast few months are Rapunzel, Elsa, Anna, Ariel, and Cinderella. We got to our seats and Blaire asked every minute when the show was going to start. As soon as the turned the lights down, she cheered and she never stopped smiling. The show started with The Little Mermaid and then Rapunzel.
She was eating a bucket of popcorn, so she couldn’t clap her hands at the end of each song, so instead she cheered and would yell, “Woo hoo! Go Ariel!” It was my favorite thing. During intermission we had to get a snow cone (obviously.) and she picked out a Pascal stuffed animal (you know, Rapunzel’s side kick?) and headed back to our seats for the Beauty & the Beast portion of the show. The show ended with Frozen and hearing all of the children in the arena singing along to every song, so loudly that it sounded like a sing-along was so much fun! Blaire was up dancing and singing and it made me so happy to see her excitement.
Between the price of the tickets, the fees they add on, the cost of parking, snacks, a snow cone in a Frozen cup and a souvenir stuffed animal – special outings like this really add up! In the 2016 Where You Belong survey, conducted by market research firm Kelton Global, it was revealed Vanguard clients tend to spend more time doing the things that make them happy. Whether that’s spending more time with their kids, enjoying more date nights with their spouse, or spending more time pursing their hobbies. Some of the supporting statistics in terms of spending time with your children include: 1| Vanguard clients spend 6 more hours per week, on average, with their kids compared with clients of other investment firms. 2| Vanguard clients are 24% more likely to feel involved with their kids compared with clients of other investment firms.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to help you manage your investments, check out Vanguard! Their mottos is their clients don’t live to invest, they invest to live. And that’s totally us! “The Where Investors Belong survey was conducted by market research firm Kelton Global in 2016. It polled 1,000 Vanguard clients and compared them with 1,000 clients of other investment firms. All differences between Vanguard clients and clients of other investment firms are statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. The parental stat refers to clients with children of any age who provided the number of hours per week they typically spend with their children or who, compared to other people they may know, believe to be more involved in their child’s life. The experiences of these Vanguard clients may not be representative of the experience of other Vanguard clients and aren’t a guarantee of future investment performance or success.”
