This goes without saying, but everything changes when you become a mom. Suddenly you’re pushing ourself to your limits. You’re more tired than you’ve ever been. These are my four favorite ways to destress as a mama.
1| A shower (maybe even a bath!) after bedtime. Saying “take a bath to unwind” may sound cliche, so I’m not saying that. I mean, seriously, just being able to take a shower for as long as I want without a small person peaking their head in every 2 minutes wanting a snack or the channel changed or something. If I don’t shower after bedtime when my husband is home, then it’s usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning, so I feel rushed and I can’t be the only one who DESPISES being asked how many more minutes until I’m ready to go. But, if you have some extra time and a bath bomb, by all means, take a bath to unwind.
2| Adult coloring. Yes, adult coloring books became super popular in 2015. I can’t be the only one who gets a little too possessive of my artwork when my kid asks me to color with her. And what’s more fun than coloring whatever cartoon characters your kid is into at that moment? Coloring your favorite family photo. Or that photo of your children that always makes you smile. 4| A trip to the spa. Okay, maybe not even a full-blown trip to the spa. For me, getting a manicure/pedicure at my favorite place or a trip to the chiropractor for an adjustment and some massage therapy are some of my favorite ways to unwind during my me time!
