5 ways to be EXTRA productive while breastfeeding

September 25, 2017

Thank you to Evivo for sponsoring today’s posts. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

BreastfeedingBeing a mama, we figure out alllllll the ways to multitask. If you’re breastfeeding, you’ll soon realize how much time you’ll spend bonding with your little babe. And while you’re nursing, there’s only so much you can do with a baby (literally) attached to you.

The best thing to do while nursing? Soak in that precious baby. Seeing their little eyelashes, their profile, the cute little nose, their hair, their tiny hands, they’re so sweet and innocent, and they are at their most vulnerable. So I’m not saying you should feel guilty if you spend your time nursing just staring at your baby. But, if you find yourself short on time, here are some ways you can maximize your nursing time. The best part? Most of them have to do with shopping.

  1. Drink water.
We all know water is good for your and your milk supply. So fill up a big glass and chug it down at each feeding. Might as well grab a snack too! ;)
  2. Order your groceries.
If you keep track of things you need on the Notes app on your phone, then you can easy go through those notes while you’ve got those 20ish minutes to yourself and order your groceries. Many stores now offer pick up and delivery services, so you could order them for delivery tomorrow and save yourself a trip to the store.
  3. Stock up on diapers and wipes.
If you’re feeding baby in their nursery, what better time to take inventory of baby’s necessities? Since you’ll be there for a bit, you have time to browse for the best deal at your favorite stores… maybe you’ll even have some time to find a little something for yourself?
  4. Plan out baby’s wardrobe for their next size.
We all know babies never stop growing. I occasionally buy something a few sizes up if I really love it or if it’s a great deal. But I like to wait until I’m close to them being ready for their next size so I know I’m buying for the right season, since we get all 4 of them here in the midwest. A feeding session is the perfect time to browse through your email for coupons, and lots of stores offer better deals online than they do in the store – plus it’s easier to know what the coupon applies to when you’re on their site than it can be in some stores. #score
  5. Read.
While it may not be the easiest to read an actual book while holding your baby, you can read an e-book or a magazine without much trouble. Reading during our nursing breaks are a great way to escape the stress of the day and feel like I’m sneaking in something I don’t have much time to do throughout the day.

Breastfeeding Breastfeeding

Do you remember my post a few weeks ago about adding a probiotic to your breastfed baby’s diet? If not, then you may not know 97% of babies are missing the (good!) bacteria B. infantis. Without it, there are ingredients in breast milk your baby can’t digest. Evivo contains this active strain of good bacteria, which means the nutrients in your breast milk are fully utilized to protect your baby’s gut. This harmful bacteria is linked to a higher risk of eczema, allergies, diabetes, and obesity.

Evivo Baby Probiotic

The best part of Evivo? You only need 3-5ml of breast milk for each serving of probiotic, so just once per day. You add your 3-5ml of breastmilk into the provided dish, add in the little packet of probiotic and then mix it together in the dish. It comes with a 5ml dropper, so you just suck it up into the dropped and feed it to your baby.

Want to try Evivo for yourself? Good news! You can use code BLOG3051 for $10 off an Evivo Probiotics Starter Kit of 4 weeks or more. If you use code BLOG3052 to receive $20 off a 12, 20, or 24-week starter kit. Each code expires on 11/30/17.
