Thank you to Dannon Yogurt Drinks for sponsoring today’s posts. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Being a mom is tough… tougher than I ever imagined. Putting someone’s (or sometwo’s or somethree’s) every need before yours on a daily basis can be exhausting and trying. It is so easy to get so wrapped up in taking care of these babies that we forget to take care of ourself. But really, it’s better for everyone if you’re at your best. A rested, happy mama is more positive, has more energy (and patience!) and
1| Treat yo’self.
It really IS the little things in life. Everyone has something they love that’s worth splurging on occasionally. A bouquet of flowers? Fancy coffee? A pedicure? Getting your hair done? I love to treat myself to my favorite coffee on Monday because I think it starts my week off on a positive note. If I’m having a rough week, I’ll pick up flowers for myself at the grocery store.
Some days my favorite… some days my least favorite. It’s doesn’t matter if you walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes or run 15 miles. Working out releases endorphins and endorphins make you feel good!
When I’m tired I can’t function. And being a mom, you sometimes feel a level of exhaustion you never knew existed. Whether it means dad getting up with the baby over night or skipping the laundry to nap while your kiddos are down, some rest will do your mind (and body!) good.
4| A hobby.
My hobbies include reading (but never finishing) a book, taking a bath and online shopping. All of these can be done in increments of 30 minutes, making them ideal for moms.
5| Get outside.
Whether it’s solo or with your family, the great outdoors is great for your soul. Go for a walk, lay on a blanket under a tree, hang out by the pool, or eat dinner outside.
6| Eat well.
If you have no energy, you’re going to be in a terrible mood (i.e. hangry). An energy-less mama isn’t fun for anyone. When I’m hungry, I’m grumpy. I have a short temper and I’m running on empty. I’m always looking for something healthy, and easy, to take with my when I’m on-the-go. Dannon Drinkable Yogurt is the perfect solution! They’re an excellent source of protein (9g in the Light & Fit / 10g in the Oikos) and they both contain NO added sugar. They are perfect to drink on the way to daycare/work in the morning or after the gym.
How do you take care of yourself? What makes you a happy mama? I’d love to know in the comments below!
