If you know me, then you know I’m passionate about car seat safety. I believe in extended rear facing and, yes, my daughter is still rear facing at 3 years, 4 months. When I was a new mom, car seats seemed so self explanatory. Buckle your baby in and they’re just good to go, right?! Wrong. And if you thought car seat safety ended when your baby isn’t in the car… wrong again.
Many parents don’t know how dangerous it can be to let your baby sleep in their car seat when it’s not secured in the car. When the car seat is secured in the car (or to a stroller) it is at the proper incline for your baby to sit safely in the car seat. When it’s not at the proper include, it can lead to infant suffocation. As a parent, I find that to be super scary! We’ve all had a baby fall asleep in their car seat, and want to just extend that nap while we’re in the store, out to eat, or even just at home.
Cybex wants to change that. Not only is their Cloud Q carseat innovative in terms of safety (in AND out of the car) it’s stylish, too! When it’s not in the car, the seat reclines to a full-recline position, so baby can nap, or just hang out, safely! It comes in handy when we’re out to dinner, mowing the lawn, and hitting up the golf course. And the Cloud Q makes adjusting your baby’s harness soooo easy! You can adjust it by moving a handle, instead of rethreading straps. It fits infants from newborns up to 35 lbs or 30” tall.
I’ve said it before, but according to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 73% of car seats are installed incorrectly! I love the following line from Cybex’s manual.
Please read and follow these instructions carefully to install the Cloud Q correctly, even if the installation and use of this infant car seat might seem simple and intuitive.
YES! Car Seat safety seems simple, but it’s not. Each seat is different so reading through your seat’s manual is so, so important to ensure you’re using the seat properly.
I really loved how easy the latch system is to install. Then you can “de”latch them with the push of a button. So simple! I think it looks like Ben is riding in a turtle shell or a little tank. And in all honesty, it is a little tank! It’s definitely heavier than I was used to. I think it’s probably from the Telescopic Linear Side-impact Protection (L.S.P. System) on each side of the seat.
Have you tried a Cybex car seat? What do you think of the full-recline position?
We really do love it! Between it’s top of the line safety and it’s sleek design, it’s an amazing seat!
