I have been going through all of my notes (Yes! I kept notes in my phone from every week since Blaire has been born) to get Blaire’s baby book up to date. Going back through these notes, I am rounding up all of our must-haves from my pre-blogging days. I’m so excited to share them with you! First up… I’m sharing our Newborn Baby Must-Haves.
Registering for our baby showers was so overwhelming! I Pinterested for months before we officially started our registries. There are so many items that aren’t exactly “necessities,” but they make having a newborn a little easier. As a first-time mom I thought I had an idea of what I was in for (I have friends with kids, I thought!) but I had no clue. Now that I’ve been through it, I know that any advice helps. I’m so excited to share the items I found to be the best for those newborn days.
Rock and Play: The Rock and Play… the single item that I suggest to every new mom, yet didn’t have myself. I didn’t know about the magic of the rock and play when we were registering. We have this bouncer, and it worked… but Blaire didn’t really like the bouncer for too long. The Rock and Play is something that she still loves to lay in when she’s at daycare. PLUS, it keeps them at eye level if you want to be able to see them while you’re in bed at night.
Burp Cloths: I underestimated how many burp clothes we would need. I know all babies are different, but Blaire spit up all the time! Some of my favorites were hand-made by one of my best friends. But these Carters ones are awesome!
Swaddler: These swaddlers are the best! They make anyone a pro swaddler. And most babies just happen to sleep better when they’re in a little baby burrito.
Lawn: The Lawn drying rack was one of the first things I added to our registry. DO NOT GET THE GRASS. You NEED the lawn! It’s bigger. Get some Twigs, too! They’re perfect to hang nipples, rings and binkys on.
Bottle Warmer: I read so many reviews online before we finally settled on this bottle warmer. I exclusively pumped for the first month, so we had to heat up any breastmilk that we had stored. This one always worked great for us.
Binkys: Blaire wasn’t too picky about her binkys. She really seemed to love these, plus they’re adorable!
Swing: The swing was a lifesaver! It has still been a lifesaver for us up until a few months ago. It was amazing at soothing a fussy baby, and a saving grace when we just couldn’t seem to get her to fall asleep any other way.
Wipe Warmer: A wipe warmer was one of those things that we registered for, knowing it wasn’t a “necessity”. With Blaire being born in February, it’s SO cold here in February. She HATED having her diaper changed, as I assume most newborns do. This wipe warmer seemed to make changing her a little easier to handle, and the wipes seemed even softer once they’d been in the warmer.
One of the best things about this blog is having something so organized to reference back to in the future. I love that I’m able to go back and fill in the blanks from before I started this blog. I’d love to know what your favorite newborn must-haves were/are. Happy Friday! xo
