Inspiration for Parents

October 23, 2014

We all know how hard it is to be a parent, no matter what age your child is. Sometimes it’s necessary to remind yourself that you’ll never get these moments back and your child will never be younger than they are at this very moment. It may be hard when you just need to get something done, yet your child is only happy if you’re sitting right there on the floor with them. I always remind myself in 13 years when she thinks I’m annoying/ruining her life and she would rather be with her friends at the mall than on the floor playing with her mama, I’ll be happy I took every chance I had to play with/take 1,000 pictures of/nap with my little girl.

We all have those days when we’re over-tired/frustrated/annoyed. Or maybe it’s a day when we just need a reminder of how important it is to slow down and play with your child. The housework can wait! (Really!) These are some of my favorite inspirational sayings that I’ve found (mostly via Pinterest) to be especially helpful to me as a new mom.

From the day your child is born to the moment she turns 18, you have fewer than a thousand Saturdays together.1. “From the day your child is born to the moment she turns 18, you have fewer than a thousand Saturdays together.” – Parents Magazine

I don't want to look back on my life in twenty years and realize that I wasted the precious time I had with my children by living in a state of perpetual distraction. -Undivided Mom3. Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow, for babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow. So settle down cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep. -Unknown4. A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for. -Unknown6. I’m no parenting guru (I’ve only been at it for 8 months!). But I hope these words help you, as much as they help me. What words of wisdom help you get through rough days? I’d love to know! xo
